We stopped in at Tennant Creek along the way to take advantage of the mobile reception and do a bit of planning for the next couple of weeks while the kids had a play in the park. Kat’s parents are planning to come and meet us in Darwin so we needed to lock down a date as to when we thought we would get there so they could book flights and accommodation.
For the rest of the drive to Banka Banka we were entertained by regular sightings of dressed up termite mounds. We arrived at camp early afternoon and after setting up while the kids made potions from the various botanical specimens on offer, we went for an explore. After meeting the donkeys the kids then got to feed the two camels at the campground which they loved. That afternoon we bunkered down in the camp kitchen as the wind was still up and all did our journals.
The next day was Stu’s birthday so we enjoyed a delicious bacon and egg fry up for brunch, before Oli and Stu got stuck in to Oli’s second ever game of chess. After a good battle Oli was thrilled to beat Stu after he made a fatal error with his queen. We lazed away the afternoon while Kat once again showed why she is the queen of baking as she whipped up a birthday cake in the camp oven over the fire! The only problem was that it rose too much and the top of the cake got burnt by the lid, but after cutting that part off, and icing it with melted butter and milo, it tasted great. After dinner we got the kids to bed and enjoyed a bit of cheese and biscuits and some birthday drinks, as the warmer weather was allowing us to stay up later.

I can’t believe you got to feed camels! 🙂 Your so lucky! 🙂
Love from Luki xoxo:) 🙂 🙂 🙂
